I would like to convert a 2D sketch into a 3D sketch.

I want to create a 90 deg. frame , but all I have is a 2D sketch, is there a quick way to change it to a 3D sketch or should I just start over?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks,

Rip

Is it an DXF? If so, look up convert 2d to 3d in the help files.
From your question, I'm guessing that's not quite what you want to do, though.

You could always start a 3D sketch and convert entities.

Use the 2D to 3D sketch toolbar in SW... that is exactly how ot makes your 2D file (dwg DXF) into a 3D model. Most people here say its hard to use, but really after you understand how to use it, its not that bad to use.

There was a post on this subject just recently, but I can't find it.

I went ahead and made and AVI file of this. So maybe others will see its much easier then most people think. The model I used was very basic and the sketches did not need to be clean up either so this example was very easy. But the concept is exactly the same.

To view the file, please download and install the codec:
