I am looking for a low consuption 24V voltage detector.
Basically this device shall only detects the voltage presence.
When voltage is detected then a relay actuates, or 24V DC contacts closes. The amp rating for those contacts can be around 0.5 Amp.
The trick is to find a relay( electrical or electronic) with low consumtion power!!!

I appreciate any feed back on this.

Solid state relay (SSR) is the easiest solution - current drain on the 'coil' is a few mA, if that. Only potential problem might be that they tend to turn on with anything over about 3V or so, so if you're after a simple on-off signal they will be ok but if you want a 'supply healthy' signal they not be so good.

Check out products by Crydom and Grayhill for starters, there are plenty others. Start with Google!

What do you want to switch?

if it is only a signalling you might use a logic port to detect and use a led indicator or use a opto coupler to transfer the signal to another circuit.

PhotoMos relays in the AQV family (now made by Panasonic) will operate with 1 ma forward current and can switch 0.5A. You would need to connect a zener in series to set the detection voltage and a current limiting resistor.

If you can be a bit more specific, other options might be better.

An active zener like the LM431 is simple and would be adjustable to a set voltage. This would guarantee turn off below a certain voltage.

try a Wago terminal block style relay. L>ow consuption good relay output modes. The other thing you could try is a pc board mounted style.
