I'm looking for a cheap solution to run my buddy's 220V three phase (3/4 hp) grinder in his garage where he only has a single phase 110V power. I've seen a lot of posts and solutions for converting single to three phase, but they all start with 220V service.

If you can point me to any web sites or give me any advice, it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Best solution, a single phase input three phase output inverter (Variable speed Drive) plus a transformer.
Best regards,

Mark Empson

Or swap out the motor? Which would be cheaper?

The CHEAPEST solution is to go to the hardware store and buy a $50.00 grinder!

Suggestion: The cheapest solution is to trade in the existing grinder for a single phase grinder.
