I've got a connection between two W6x20 beams that are flush, and due to their shallow nature and flange width, coping the beams to accomodate a B2B clip angle has the coped section failing by A LOT. I've asked for a specified reaction to design for, but was given the old "50% of shear capacity" shtick. I only have room to fit a single row of bolts to get the appropriate edge distances.

I'm considering adding 2 stiffeners to the carrying member and then doing an end plate connection, but I've only heard of this connection and never really done it myself. With such a shallow beam is this even constructable?

Try an extended shear tab connection? Could probably fit multiple vertical rows of bolts if needed.

I feel like I've seen Koot detail a very similar thing on here. It might've even included extending a plate from the bottom of the carrying beam to include more bolts. I might be making all of this up, but Koot has uploaded about a billion details on here so statistically my odds are good.
