Our site has been using V5 around 8mnths. The users have all come from V4 with experience ranging between 5 - 10 yrs. We are starting to create more complex parts (plastic injection mouldings, consumer domestic products) and we are wondering whether the software level we have (we have licences up to GSD2 functionality) would allow us to create complex styled surfaces. Obviously we do not need automotive A-surf quality, but how far, in anyones opinion does GSD allow you to go?

Hello,

GSD in V5 can do the same as CURV1,CURV2, LIMIT1, LIMIT2, FORMTOOL, BLENDSURF, SKI... hmmm...alomst:

You cannot create ISOPARAM curve, simplify surface (FORMTOOL/simplify)

But you have more options in V5 with the other tools.

If you need function like NET1,NET2,ARC, PATCH, FORMTOOLS /simplify then you need to have FREESTYLE.
This will give you very nice analysis tools (like /anadia) very easy to use. And much more (but $$$)

Eric left out V4 SURF2 which has a similar capability in V5 GSD, and V4 SURF1 which has similar capbility in WF&S or GSD.

Which V4 functions (or products) did you formerly use?
