Time dependant thermal properties of glass

Time dependant thermal properties of glass

Time dependant thermal properties of glass

(OP)

Would anybody know where to look for time dependant thermal properties of glass?

I am interested in the conductivity and specific heat at 600 to 1200 degrees celcius.

Thanks.....

Check the ACERS online bookstore.

RE: Time dependant thermal properties of glass

1) What is the composition of the glass?
2) Conductivity and specific heat are not generally considered time dependant thermal properties.  However, some variation of parameters can occur during annealing of quenched specimens.
3) The Materials Science and Engineering Handbook, 3rd Edn., pp. 416-420 has data for the thermal conductivities of a number of glasses at various temperatures or over temperature ranges.  The data were taken from Handbook of Glass Data, Part A and Part B, by O. V. Mazurin et al. (1983).

RE: Time dependant thermal properties of glass

The thing for watch for with glasses is devitrification (crystallization). Devitrification is time dependent in cetain temperature windows for different glass compositins. There may be some little specific heat variation due to crystallization. In general, I would expect conductivity to increase with increasing crystallization (i. e. amorphous structures don't conduct heat well).

RE: Time dependant thermal properties of glass

Does anyone here know of a good resource for analyzing glass breakage in the appliance industry?  I am working on reducing breakage associated with TinO2 coated glass and am looking for a good resource.
