I have a stack that is made of stepped columns that get progressively smaller in diameter as you approach the top. It is a free standing stack. My question is how do you determine the theoretical effective length factor (K) for each section of the stack? It seems to conservative to use a K = 2.0 times the overall height for every section of the stack. Any suggestions?
