Does anyone know if type 415 stainless plate is available anywhere.  (this is the wrought version of CA6NM castings)  I don't know of anyone that can supply this material so far.

RE: 415 stainless plate

I went through a Reliance and a Ryerson catalog - only 410, 410S, and 430 plate available there.  Saw 416 in rounds and squares.  What application would you use 415 for?

Don't know the specific application, but we would be welding it to a CA6NM casting, and our engineer wants it to have the same chem/mech properties, so I know I could get a forge shop to make F6NM bars, but I though it would be cheaper to get a plate cut if I can find one.

RE: 415 stainless plate

That's too rare a grade to find in plate. You would have to order a heat lot ( 100 tons ). Advise your engineer to think a little more practically.

RE: 415 stainless plate

A suggestion would be to use 15-5PH or 17-4PH stainless plate.  It's generally available, and is fairly close to the CA6NM metallurgy.  Should be cheaper than 304SS too.
