RE: Does anyone know what this means?

Could EE be "each end"- some kind of connection note?

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

"with 3 slip critical (bolts) each end"?

Just speculating here.

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

No cover page/general notes that define the acronyms?

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

(OP)
Nothing in the General Notes.

It is a residential job so I am surprised they would be using acronyms like that.

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

Don't you just love CAD drawings done by operators who know nothing about structures?

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

(OP)
Actually, i just love the shitty plans my competitors put out. Keeps me in demand.

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

Can we see a bit more of the drawing?

what exactly is it pointing at?
the blue thing?
The hatched area?
the black line?

Is there a view on the drawing from the other angle?

does this abbreviation turn up anywhere else?

So it looks like a steel box section or wide flange beam with TRT - treated timber? 2 x 8s resting on it.

So some sort of fixing for the wide flange beam and not the box section?

Is the box section / beam vertical or horizontal?

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

Maybe SC= "steel cap", looking at column caps for wood beams. But can't find anything called a "W3".

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

Its a shallow window header that could have been handled with a triple 7" LVL.

Within 3 Seconds, Confuse Every Engineer

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

It's a W6x9 w/StructuralCEE...but they put a 3 in place of /

So it's a wide flange with a c-channel to cap it and take the weak axis moment from the framing above/window below.

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

With 3 stud column each end?

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

No clue, but I am sure they saved five seconds not typing the words!

As the reader of the drawing, I would make sure that resolving this lazy and unclear notation costs the drawing author as much time and agony as possible. ;)

I bet that is it. Not sure why they need that much support. The load ain't that high.

LOL.

The RFI will cost several hundred bucks by the time it's all said and done. Hopefully that would be enough to get the EOR to rethink saving five seconds in this manner.

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

And make sure your RFI is 100% acronyms and abbreviations

"wtf pls lmk, thx"

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

I searched for SCEE and the first result I got was "Subvention canadienne pour l'épargne-études". So I think you need three Canada Education Savings Grants.

RE: Does anyone know what this means?

This note means that you need to call the engineer who produced the drawing.
