Hello everyone,

I need to know the following (and any others if I necessary) seismic design parameters for London (bearing capacity of soil: 50 kN/m². For now I only know this information) for a pre-design of a steel structure.

For Defining Vertical and Horizontal Response Spectrum Functions and Seismic Load Patterns:

Country: CEN default or Others
Ground Acceleration (ag/g) : ?
Spectrum Type : ? (1 or 2)
Ground Type: ? (Should it be accepted as `D` if/since bearing capacity of soil is 50 kN/m²)
Behavior Factor, q : ?

Where/how can I find those parameters? I would be very glad if you help me about it.

Or we simply say that, it is not so necessary/mandatory to design structures seismically in UK? I could not find enough information about it.

Best regards,

All there parameters can be referred to EuroCode 8 (BS EN 1998.1.2004).
