JIS (Japanese) same as ISO?
JIS (Japanese) same as ISO?
(OP)
Hello all,
I am pretty familiar with GD&T in the ASME system. But our company is trying to get our foot in the door with a Japanese manufacturer. I've been told that they use GD&T in their designs, but that "the tolerances are based on JIS." (We haven't yet seen any drawings, so that's the only info my boss has given me so far.)
OK, I can figure out that JIS is the Japanese Industrial Standards, but does anyone know if that's essentially ISO?
Specifically, I'm wondering if JIS uses the envelope rule or the independency rule, because we've had some confusion about that with a European project a few years ago.
Thanks!
