Hello all, first post. Great forum!

Just working out for a bit of a retrofit/ design change in an ICF.

I'm proposing installing a steel beam to bear on the concrete core
- it's minimally reinforced but can treat it as an unreinforced stocky column & the axial load at 0.36fck is OK.

Simply supported beam assumed. (btw is it OK to assume no moment transfer if installed on a padstone?)

Just wondering if the reinforcement yielding would cause an issue or what other way I would approach this? - as per .. trying to minimize abortive works!

I don't understand the question... for columns, I tend to be pretty careful... for beams, I treat them like regular concrete beams adding single bar 'hairpins' for shear... also have done some long spans using 'hairpin' hangers into the wall above to provide support to break the long span into shorter spans...

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?
