Cue crying, wailing, and mourning.

It was blamed on a suspected lightning strike.

Quote:

...the fire was purposefully being allowed to continue for several more hours so that it burned the less distilled spirits that are in the debris.
That will also help ensure any runoff from the firefighting efforts don't pollute nearby sources of drinking water.

Heck I would think some folks would WANT to have whiskey in their drinking water.

Oh the humanity!

Good thing I've got 50 or 60 bottles of whisk(e)y on hand. Should get me through the 4th.

If at first one does not succeed, try try again. Probably an insurance scam, or someone doesn't like whiskey.

These buildings are relatively old, often dating to the 1800s. I suspect the intensity of use for these structures has been gradually increasing over the years until they just gave up. Wood is not the best in long-term high-stress loading.

Edit: I was thinking of the previous collapses in the past year.

RE: Another warehouse full of whiskey has collapsed and this time it caught fire as well...

Are you thinking there is an increase in consumption of whiskey?

I'll drink to that.

RE: Another warehouse full of whiskey has collapsed and this time it caught fire as well...

Whiskey popularity has been on a tear for the last decade. 20 years ago they could hardly give it away.

It sounds like a setup for a joke:

Did ya hear about the Jim Beam warehouse that burned down?
  • Local fire chief E. Fudd explained: we twied to save some of it, but it was just too whisky!
  • The town is devastated. The residents are very low in spirits.
