Hello!
I want to calculate bending stress result for the 2D model in Ansys workbench but it seems that this result can't be calculated for 2D elements
Am I right or there is a method to have bending stress in the 2D state?
Any help can be appreciated.
RE: Calculating of bending stress for 2D elements in Ansys eorkbench
I think also that bending stress is only valid for beam elements.
To calculate the bending stress in 2D plane stress, just look say at the top of the beam and calculate the sigmaX stress in the X/fibre direction (assume that it is bending about Z which comes out of the screen, and Y is along the depth of the cross section) and the midplane and subtract the two to get bending stress.
One could also use linearization that will decompose the stresses into membrane and bending stresses.
