Hi,

We're designing a line heater to heat up natural gas.

API 12K tells you how to do the design calculations, and says to use ASME IX for the weld procedures, but doesn't say anything about how to specify the type of weld joints for actually building the darn thing.

Anyone know what code to use for this? Are we just supposed to use "best engineering practice"? How can we say we designed it to API 12K if API 12k doesn't tell you how to weld the thing?

Also check the appropriate NFPA code.
