Syncing indexing conveyor with web of material.

Syncing indexing conveyor with web of material.

Syncing indexing conveyor with web of material.

(OP)
I had this in another section with no bites so trying it here.
I have a machine idea that I am gauging the feasibility and cost of right now. It would consists of a indexing conveyor controlled by a stepper, stepper with encoder, or servo (have not decided yet). It will index parts under a tyvek web in which the parts will get a tyvek seal (thus joining the web and parts requiring synchronous motion from that point forward) on top then die cut off the tyvek web.

Do applications exists where there is 1 master motor and both the convey and web are controlled with timing belts whereas the surface feet is all calculated out through the various gear ratios and pulley diameters? Or is it more industry practice to use two independent motor systems (1 for indexer and 1 for web) and sync their motion through controllers? If the ladder is true, could the web be controlled by a encoder follower type system connected to the main indexing system or does that application experience too much lag? Speeds and cycle time would be extremely low; maybe 1 or 2 cpm.

RE: Syncing indexing conveyor with web of material.

It can be done either way, and at the low speed you are talking about, very easily.
