AutoCAD to HydroCAD import problem

AutoCAD to HydroCAD import problem

AutoCAD to HydroCAD import problem

(OP)
I'm having a hard time importing my subcatchment information from AutoCAD 2015 (Product Version J.210.0.0, SP2) to HydroCAD (10.00-15).

The error message is, "Error 189: Watershed imort failed: Missing Import Column: Node Number While importing data".

I tried the follwowing steps for Error 189: Watershed import failed.

The watershed import process has failed. Details will appear in the actual message. This is a general category for a number of AutoCAD layer processing errors, such as "General modeling failure". To resolve the problem:

1) Restart AutoCAD and try again.
2) If the problem persists, there may be a damaged object on one of the drawing layers. To identify the problem, delete objects from the layer one at a time until the problem is resolved.
3) If the problem cannot be isolated to a specific object, there may be a hidden object that is causing the problem. To resolve this problem, copy the essential objects to a new layer and update the HydroCAD layer designations accordingly.

It seems none of these actions resolved my importing issue. I attached my CAD file "Test_3.dwg". Can anyone suggest a best practice in importing data from AutoCAD. I'm using Boundaries at elevation zero (0) as my subcatchments, soil boundaries, and land use types in the CAD file. Can anyone get this to work properly.

Any assistance would be very appreciated.

Thank you,

gscotchie

Please check the node numbers in the drawing. I believe you will find they are not on the designated layer.

psmart, Thank you for your imput.

I got my model to import!

I switch all of my subcatchments, land uses, and soil types in AutoCAD from Regions to Polylines. It seems Build 15 does not like Regions. I was using Regions in Build 14. I will proceed with using polyines to import areas from AutoCAD to HydroCAD.

Thank you,

RE: AutoCAD to HydroCAD import problem

All boundaries must be drawn with closed polylines. That's the way the import process has always worked. There have been absolutely no changes to the import process in recent builds. What works in one build will work the same way in another.

What may be confusing you is that HydroCAD uses regions to process the overlapping polylines, and the final display shows the resulting regions. But the original boundary data must always be defined with polylines.
