falling wall
falling wall
(OP)
i have just purchased a building and on the final walk thru
noticed an outer wall of 1st floor is bowing out about a foot and a half. it is on the first floor of the building which is 3 stories high. this arching out of the wall begins at about floor level on the first floor and seems to end at the 2nd floor. it is about 3 feet in width but appears to be ok-no obvious cracking in the mortor etc.
how can i maintain integrity of this wall while i replace this portion-method?

RE: falling wall
Is it retaining anything?
A structural engineer may advise propping the floor above whilst the wall is replaced. The props must be designed in such a manner that the loads are safely transferred to elements of sufficient capacity.
