I have a question regarding the repair for the following (see photo). This is within a concrete box culvert, unsure of the original construction date. We were asked to review the current condition and noted a couple of locations with this issue. We are in the process of developing repair steps.
My question is not the repair of the honeycombing, that seems somewhat straightforward. The defect seems to extend though the entire wall thickness which is assumed to be 9-inches. I assume there is a drainage system behind the wall in this section since the defect is near the base and there are weepholes adjacent. Not sure if it is a perf pipe with pea gravel, but that would be my assumption. How can this drainage be re-established behind the proposed repair area? I have concerns placing pea gravel and perform the concrete repair. Drain board would need to tie into the existing drainage and may leave potential void spaces between existing soils and concrete repair section. Any insight and advice is greatly appreciated.
