Hydrocad Infiltration - using side slopes only

Hydrocad Infiltration - using side slopes only

Hydrocad Infiltration - using side slopes only

I am working on a project that I will need to use infiltration in the detention pond to meet the local regs. However, the regs. don't allow you to use the bottom of the pond for infiltration, only the side slopes are allowed to be used. I know how to do this the old fashion way, but I would like to know how this can be modeled in Hydrocad? Any suggestions? Thanks!

RE: Hydrocad Infiltration - using side slopes only

On the exfiltration screen, select "Constant velocity" and "wetted area". Then select "Only above invert" and enter the cut-off elevation, which in your case is the bottom elevation. Review the stage-discharge report to make sure it has the intended behavior.

For further details please click the Help button on the exfiltration screen and see www.hydrocad.net/exfilt.htm

Doesn't the wetted area include the bottom of the pond?

RE: Hydrocad Infiltration - using side slopes only

When you select "only above invert" the exfiltration area will exclude the area at and below the invert elevation you specify.

Please try it and review the stage-discharge curve, which will let you verify that the bottom is being excluded.

Also review the pond summary report, which will list the exact excluded area.

Thanks Peter! It is a little tricky with an irregular shaped pond but I feel confident in the way it is modeled. Thanks again!

On the exfiltration screen, select "Surface Area" and enter a maximum elevation that is slightly above the bottom of the pond. You can verify the setup on the stage-discharge plot.
