Use an excel parameter list across an entire project

Use an excel parameter list across an entire project

(OP)
Hello,
I would like to use an excel parameter list across an entire project. I'm trying a top down modelling approach. I've linked the excel file to the first assembly I've created which I'm using as a skeleton which has the outlines of all the major parameterised features. From then onwards I want to create new parts and then project lines from the skeleton part to create individual parts. Then if I change the skeleton everything should move with it.
The problem I'm having is that for each new part I need to manually go in and select the excel file containing the parameters. Is there a way to do it automatically for each new part and assembly?
Many thanks
George

RE: Use an excel parameter list across an entire project

There is not an out of the box way to automatically do this.  You could do a couple different things though to make life a little easier, but it involves up front work.  You could use an external iLogic rule or templated part/assembly with an ilogic rule in it to point to a spreadsheet and create the link.

RE: Use an excel parameter list across an entire project

That's the way I'd do it - I'd create a hardpoint (that's what we call them) part that refers to the excel file, and then link my part geometry back to the hardpoint part.
