Designing beam

Is it possible to design the slab as beam? I mean by concentrating steel/tendons over certain width of slab and design it as beam.

Yes, I've done that before. Just be careful with your service load deflections. Span to depth ratios given in ACI (or whatever concrete code you use) should be followed.
