Porous media definition

Porous media definition

Porous media definition

Hello all,

I am comparing StarCCM+ vs Fluent at the moment. Now when i need to define a porous media with the 2 main values, inertial resistance and viscous resistance both software packages use very different units:

inertial resistance FLUENT:1/m StarCCM:kg/m^4
viscous resistance FLUENT:1/m^2 StarCCM: kg/(m^3.s)

I have never encountered these units from StarCCM before and have no idea how to convert FLUENT values into these.
Someone an idea how to convert?

RE: Porous media definition

Are you sure about the Fluent viscous resistance term?

At first glance, I would've said you divide the StarCCM values by the fluid density to get the Fluent inputs.  But that doesn't seem to work for the viscous resistance...might work if you divide that term by the fluid dynamic viscosity (mu) for the viscous resistance...

RE: Porous media definition

thx it is correct
