Hi, I've got a question...

I've been using this one chip for a project,
a 7660 charge pump voltage inverter.  
This chip does two useful things;
one, it takes  a positive voltage input and
inverts it, and two, it takes an input signal
of frequency f and divides it in half.  The
downfall is that the negative voltage output
is not regulated, and drops as load increases.

In the circuit I'm working on, another chip is
used to provide a regulated negative voltage.

The question is... are there any IC's that will
take a +5V input (or greater if need be, up to +9V)
and put out a regulated -5V, as well as dividing
an input signal in half?

There are several chips on the market which operate the same way as the 7660 but which have significant lower on-resistance of the internal Mosfets.

If you replace the 7660 with one of these chips the negative voltage will still be without regulation, but for a given current voltage drop will be significantly lower. Might be that this solution is suffient for your application.
