Why noise anaysis is preferred in Gear-box as compared to vibration anaysis?

if the above question isn't correct, then i would like to know when noise analysis is preferred to vibration analysis?

Because

(1)the customer hears noise, doesn't feel vibration

(2) at the frequency of interest typically problems are acoustically transmitted, not structurally

(3) it is a lot easier to measure noise than to measure vibration, and then calculate the noise from that.

any other suggestions? Cheers
