Zipping all parts of an assembly 4

Hi all,

I am looking to zip all parts of an assembly into a single file that can then be sent to the customer for review. Is there a way to do this in Solid Edge ST2?

Perhaps use revision manager to make a copy of all the parts/assys into a new folder, then zip that folder.

If you don't want to give them the actual files you can open your top assembly in View and Markup and save as a pcf.
You might need to set some of the create options.
Go to Tools > Options then on the View and Markup tab check the boxes for "Store Precise geometry in file" and "Enable Measure, Markup & sectioning"
They can then open the pcf file in view and markup and you haven't given away any intelligent data.
They can also add markups and send the pcf back to you.

Thanks beachcomber! This might be better than actually sending the files since the customer can do the markups on the files.

There is a free german macro from a german company it's called hitteam tools.
It is the same like pack & go for autodesk products.

Thanks everyone! I had the IT guy download the software and I will give it a try tomorrow.

This forum rocks!! It is people like all of you that make it easy to learn new software packages.

If you save the assembly as a parasolid or step file it will automatically gather everything up into the one file. Just bear in mind that before opening it, it is not a bad idea to drop it into a new folder as it will create all of the parts in the same location as the assembly.

I use this alot with a SW client and it works very well. If your client is a Solid Edge user on ST2/3 then often the only drawback is the loss of assembly relationships. But for review this is rarely an issue.
