I have a zinc die cast product made of alloy #7. If this was used in an indoor swimming pool area, would the chlorine have any detrimental effect on the zinc.

Thanks,
Vince

Zinc alloys corrode readily in chloride environments. Does this part receive any type of surface treatment, coating, etc.? If not, expect it to corrode quickly, especially if it is in contact with another metal.

The words sacrificial protection springs to mind, if you have anything metallic in the pool higher up in the recation talbe, ie steel, etc thenthe zinc will sacrifice itself to protect the steel. hence galvanised steel. what you will create is like a battery with with the flow from zinc to parent metal. that is unless your swinning pool is made of gold, silver or platinum.
