I have a WT9x53 horizontal Brace that is about 30 feet long. The WT9x53 brace is connected at the ends at the flanges only and not the stem (therefore I have eccentric loading). The brace has already been put into place at the job site. An interference has occurred and due to how congested the area where the WT9 is located, the WT9 needs to be temporarily removed. The WT9x53 needs to be cut so it can be removed.

My question is there any reference material for WT splices? Only splices I have done has been on symmetric members and there is plenty of reference material over Wshape splices. I don't want to way overdesign the splice connection. Is there a reasonable way to calculate how much tension the flange will take and how much the stem will take as well. The thickness of the flange is almost twice as big as the stem thickness.

Thanks for your time

Connect: could you further explain your statement regarding the neutral axis. The NA could be around the stem-flange interface or thereabouts.

Are you talking about centroid of the stem bolt group and flange bolt group relative to the centroid and additional shears due to that moment?
