Hi!

Just wanted to ask if PETG plastic resins would damage aluminum molds? or does it depend on the grade of the plastic resin.

A friend of mine told me that it is better to use M300 molds for PETG than aluminum molds. Personally I would i prefer aluminum molds since generally they have lower cycle times but don't know if it can be used for PETG.

BTW the mold would used for blow molding.

HI KARL,

I AM THE DESIGNER FOR A MACHINE SHOP WHICH PRODUCES MOSTLY BLOWMOLDS. ALL OF OUR STANDARD DESIGNS FOR PETE AND PETG ARE ALUMINUM BODY BLOCKS. WE HAVE HAD NO TROUBLE WITH CORROSION ISSUES FROM THE RESIN. THE MAIN ISSUE OF STRENGTH IS IN THE PINCHOFF AREA WHICH IS USUALLY MADE OF A 400 TYPE STAINLESS SUCH AS EDRO 420.
