im having problems getting autodesk inventor professional 2008 working.

i have installed the data management server onto our server and this is all working fine. vault is setup and my CAd users are happy with what they see. i have no experience in setting up and configuring autodesk or vault so im going with what the CAD user sin my office like and dont like....

i have installed inventor, the vault and the data management client on each of the users desktops too. when i launch inventor, the default open dialog points to: "C:\VaultWS\Projects" which i was told is the workspace for each of the users..

i dont fully understand how all this works.

anyways, im also told that the vault button in the toolbar should allow them to browse and open file from the vault. this button is disabled.

if i go into File > Projects and try setting up virtual path, its defaulted to "$/projects"

in the vault explorer the default working space is set to "c:\vaultws\project".

the error message i get is this:

"The active project's workspace is not mapped to a path in the Vault. In order to proceed the workspace must be mapped."

please advise.

What are you trying to do when that error comes up?

basically i want to browse the vault on the server instead of the local vault.
