Hello.

I still get difficult to work with STL files on NX.

For example get this "simple" file:

How would you convert it to a native NX body?

Rapid Surfacing needs the user to select many point on the faceted body and can be tedious and many times doesn't offer the expected results.

Fit Surface ... you can see the result.

Other options such as Decimate, Subdivide, Smooth... don't produce a result easier to work with either.

Most commands don't accept faceted bodies at all.

What is the best/easiest method to convert STL files like this to something else to work with?

Regards

Here is a part of your spring, imported as stl and converted to solid body. Is it what you want?

Hello.

I would like to get a body, yes, but something more simplified, adjusting surfaces or something like that.
Anyway, How did you get it?

If you generate that body with a sweep you would notice that the computer can manipulate the result much easier/faster than this non-parametric "body".

Do I need to first break the stl in many small parts in order to continue and use the automatic tools that convert it to well-defined shapes?

Hello!
I have downloaded your stl-file and import into NX with my UGOPEN dll. It will be EXACT your stl file.

Hi Chigishev,

Sorry for not knowing but what is the UGOPEN Dll?

Thank you for any help.

John

I build Ugopen dll, and Ctrl+U, select dll, select stl file - and you see solid body on your screen.

Hello.
Chigishev, where can we get that ugopen.dll?

Hi,

This file was easy enough to re-draw from scratch but I would still like to know if the stl can produce anything decent.

Thanks

John

Hi Chigishev,

What function inside of NX are you using to create the solid from the .stl?

Thank you

John

Chigishev,
You are obviously developing a plug in program for NX which will convert facet bodies ( STL) into Solid bodies.
The "Connector" looks very good!
Will you sell or will you share the program ?

Regards,
Tomas

Hi Chigishev,

I can not read your website (not english), sorry.

The add on looks very impressive.

Thanks

John
