Can anyone please help me with the meaning of Wire PLate that is specially used in inlet nozzles of Vessels??

Just wondered what's the "wire" plate?
Is it to be the "weir" plate?

Weir plates are used on kettle reboilers and such, but not, to my knowledge, at inlet nozzles.
