Wing tip deflection

Today, after lunch, while watching an A330 take off I had a discussion with a colegue regarding the deflection of the wing tip. I said that the wing tip of an A330/340 can deflect up to 2 meters with full pax/cargo load. He didn't believe me.

Does anyone have any idea of deflection of the wing tip in these and other a/c's just to make a comparison?
 
Six inches or so in a Navajo (6-seater twin aircraft).

Personally observed while test flying a wingitp-mounted "secret device"[wink] for any induced oscillations.

777 static test went about 24 ft. before failing.

The load condition was 2.5g limit load pullup maneuver, times 1.5 to make it 3.75g at ultimate.

Wing failed just outboard of the pylons at 154%.

Typical excursions on the fatigue test were on the order of 8 ft during rotation/liftoff.

Dash 8-S400 on Ultimate + growth Static test deflected over 70 inches at the wing tip (I believe it got upto 84 inches but can't quite remember - I have got a picture of it somewhere). On the A330, IABG (Munich) and IMA (Dresden) did the structural testing of the aircraft, if you want a definitive answer pertaining to the A330/A340 you could try them or the manufacturer. Airbus UK (ex BAESystems), also did an outboard wing segment test for the new A340-500/-600 at Filton. If you check out IABG's web page they actually have a picture of the A330 structural test showing a deflected wing case.
