Wind waves in canals

I'm very interested in finding any information on modelling wind waves in canals or other inland long narrow waterways. I'm dealing with surface widths of around 80 metres and straight lengths along the canal of up to 5 kilometres.

Does anyone know of any guidelines / research / software available?
