What is the most appropriate method in asce 7-05 in coming up with design pressures for a flat roof canopy attached to a building?

I used the lower roof provisions which bumps you back to the roof overhangs, but you use different zones (you use Cp for zone 2 in zone 3 and for zone 1 in zone 2).
I'll be interested to hear from others.

what about if you use method 2?

that is the analytical method

I've always used the wall pressure at the height of the canopy. When a wind hits the windward wall of a building, it can go over or around. I assume the wind going over the building is acting as a perpendicular load on the bottom of the canopy.

Hope this helps.
