hi..

i am designing a external pressure vessel for desalination process.i want to calculate wind load acting on the vessel and load acting on the support.the details are given below..

1. from bottom cone height:1.2m
2. above the cone, cylindrical portion height:3m
3. the vessel is to be situated at 11.5m cd
4. the basic wind velocity :39 m/sec
5. inside of the vessel full vacuum
6. the type of support is lug support
7. weght of empty vessel: 8000 kgs
8. operational weight:8000+15000 kgs

please kindly help me in this...if any more details are required i will provide...

Check ASCE 7 (for the US) or local building code requirements elsewhere for wind loading. The various pressure vessel handbooks also have general information on wind loading.

Refer to Pressure Vessel Design Manual by Dennis Moss 3rd Edition. It is Chapter 3 page 112.It will be helpful for
you.

Thank you strauss...

I gone through the Moss book...but i feel the information is not clear..
Can You suggest some other authors book..

If you are not sure what is the correct way forward then employ a competent Vessel Engineer to perform the calculations for you. If you get the calcs wrong it could be very expensive.
