who produces 440B? 1

The martensitic stainless steels used for premium knife blades are made from a grade which has 15%Cr,0.50%C, 1.0%Mo, and 0.1%V nominally. Does anyone have experience with steel producers who make this alloy?
I believe it can be produced by continuous casting, but I'm not sure. Anyone have a clue?

This alloy is not that common and probably will be hard to find in small quantities.
You will probably find 440C, a better knife material, much easier.

Carpenter makes and supplies 440B. If you want small quantities you may have to go through a Knife making materials supplier.

Also, Hitachi produces a proprietary grade called ATS34, which is frequently used in knife applications.
