Hi all:

I had done a chemical analysis of a sample that give me this values:

C.....0.69%
Si....0.27%
Mn....0.66%
Cr....0.23%
V.....no more than 0.05%

Does any one know what kind it is.
It cames cold rolled 1 mm thick sheet.

Thanks in advance

This chemistry is very close to a Water Hardeneing Tool Steel Class 131 (AISI W4)except that the Carbon content is under the range for this particular class. W4 spec is 0.8-1.2C. However, since the remainer of the chemistry is withhn range it is going to respond very much like W4 and unless it is some borderline or critical application I would not be hesitant to use it as if it were W4.

W4 spec is 0.8-1.2C. However, since the remainder of te chemistry is within range it is going to respond to heat treatment very much like W4 and unless it is a borderline or critical application, I would not be hesitant to use it as if it were W4.
