Hi all,
I have just started to work in firefighting company.
For months I spent my time making drawing of firefighting plants using autocad 2d for p&IDs, plant layouts, isometrics attaching in every drawing the related MTOs.
I counted by myself (without using any specifiic software ) every pieces that have to be added in the MTOs. Every change that occurs in the plants had to be changed manually in the isometric too I would like to start to use a different program in order to work smarter. Taking in to account that I design firefighting plants that protect vessels etc., Do you know any program that can help me to make MTOs isometrics and plant layout and that it is highly customisable? Is it possible reach a complex costumised graphic level?
Thanks in advance

What is a firefighting plant?

There are a few 3D piping/plant modelling software packages that can do what you want but they may take some customization and some database work by someone skilled and knowledgeable.

Off the top of my head, you could look up Cadworx, Autoplant, Cadpipe, AutoCAD Plant 3D. These are all AutoCAD-based and easier to implement than PDMS, SmartPlant, but you still need to spend considerable time up front for configuration and set up.

They can all automatically generate isometrics via Isogen or Isogen-like software. Material lists are easy as well.

Hi Gator,
I intend as firefighting plant Foam-water spray systems,Water Spray Fixed Systems for Fire Protection, Medium and High expansion foam system.
Is it possible with these software create customised material, valve or discharge device, i.e. is it possible to create my own library recognized also during the isogen?
thanks

I think all such software works mainly on the premise that if you first build and populate the database objects up front, you can then get it to automatically spit out the BOM by selecting all or a portion of what you have drawn.

Which are the most used in your experience?
