Where to start? 1

I am looking for some information on design for Seismic Design for a medical device. All that I have at this point is that the design has to be compliant with California laws. Where should I start researching the requirements for this and then where should I look for the design advice once I have the specs?

Primary concern with the California regulations for medical equipment is related to seismic forces which can be found in Chapter 16A, Section 1632A of the 2001 California Building Code.

Engineer of record is responsible for the design of medical equipment anchorage to the supporting structure while the equipment manufacturer is responsible for the adequacy of the equipment itself.

California hospitals are under jurisdiction of a state agency called "Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development" or OSHPD. This is a link to the pre-approvals from OSHPD:
