I need to find a step up gear head for an electric motor. All the catalogues I've looked at so far only have gear reducers. But I need a medium powered high speed application and it seems the simplest solution would be a gear box with a higher output rpm than input.

Can anyone point me to a company that sells these?

Thanks.

I cannot help you with a gearbox, but another solution might be to either use a high speed dc motor, or using a standard induction motor with a variable frequency drive.

The speed of induction motors can be greatly increased sometimes up to 400Hz, and at very near full rated motor horsepower as well. If you take into account cost, size, and efficiency, especially for higher power it might be worth looking at.

Thanks for the tips, but we decided to go with a belt drive. We have the room and it's much cheaper. I don't know why we didn't think of it before.
