My customer requested that I send him sworks drawings in 2006 format, since he could not open the 2007 drawings(he has 2006). I was suprised to find out that I could not simply "save as" to a previous sworks version. Is there another way around this?

For a company that sends models to different customers, it is a good idea to have a pc that will keep all versions ... just in case.

TJMcD,

aroundhere indicated on post dated Jan 22 that working at home was not possible since he only has v2004. You can get a "home use" license code from SolidWorks for 2007. This is a different serial number from the copy you have installed at work.

On installing several versions:
Installing several versions is not as straight-forward as one would think it should be.

Installing a new version in a different folder will not ensure all of your file locations are accurate for the new install. If you look under tools, options, File locations, all of htese paths need to be changed to point at the new install location. Toolbox also needs to be installed in a separate location to avoid "upgrade". One good thing though, SolidWorks has a Copy Settings Wizard which, once you update the paths once, you can transfer the paths to other computers.
