What Series stainless should be used?

I am designing a spring which will be immersioned in potable (chorinated) water.
With an operating temp -25 degree f to 150 degree f
Which series stainless steel should be used?

What are the stresses? Static or dynamic? If dynamic, how many cycles? Type 316 will experience pitting when exposed to chlorides, which will tend to reduce the fatigue strength. Type 2205 (UNS S31803) is a duplex stainless steel available as spring wire from Sandvik/Interwire that has improved pitting resistance.

Stresses are low and the part is used in a static state

If it is good potable water and the stress levels aren't too high then 316 would be the standard choice.
I would rather see something with a bit better corrosion resistance used.
2205 is available from almost all of the spring wire people. It is a good option.

When a closed volume of water at ordinary pressure gets below +32F, something will be stressed severely.
