Hi All,

Trying to figure out what this material is (it's a flapper for a check valve). OD is about 7/16". Anyone know?

It is a woven fiberglass fabric composite. The resin may be anything but is likely phenolic or epoxy.

As a guess, since that's really all that possible from the information you give.

Some sort of fabric impregnated with some sort of elastomer.

Compositepro - thank you so much for the info! If anyone knows what this is, it would be someone with the name "compositepro" :) Have you seen this used as a flapper for check valves? Do you know if there is a specific sheet/film material to source or a specific vendor that supplies this material?

The material selection is entirely dependent on the application and fluid compatibility requirements.

It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.

Hi All,

Thank you again for the responses. The two links EdStainless provided look very promising. I will look through them more carefully tomorrow.

I also found something on McMaster that might be a close match (if not the same material):

I think the part in your photograph has glass fibers, not canvas. The material in your link appears similar to the material in your photo.

Yes, G-10 Would be very similar, if not the same, material.

All the G10 I've seen is too rigid and brittle for a flapper valve.
