What section is most common in Europe? The IPE or the HE or some other section?

In the U.S. , W sections are very common. An "H" or "S" on the other hand is not easy to find.

I need to specify either IPE or HE, and I want to spec the more common profile.

Just spec the "W" and they'll pick the best match. Its not all as much of an exact science as you're thinking.

Thanks, bimr! That is exactly what I was wanting. Excellent.

There's hundreds of refineries around the world with Japanese sections matched to the W's that were on the dwgs, but...
good stuff bimr. (*)

BigInch,

I visited your link again. I must be missing something. I do not see the W-section to IPE-profile converter/equater. Clicking the link, I go to a thread about hammering in pipes. Do you have another, more direct link?

that's my pipeline "website". no structural stuff there.
sorry for the confusion
