Hello,

How practical is it to weld a 36" stainlees steel strip 1/4" thick onto a mild steel plate 1/4" thick along the edge?

Are there alternatives to fasten these two metals together?

Thank You

It can be done, but what kind of properties do you need from the finished weld? Check with a local welding supplier...they can give you the correct electrode and settings to use.

The equipment would be subjected to repeated drops, of approx 150ft, average weight of 200lbs.

All I require is that the weld doesnt break.

Will call local supplier now.

Thank You

Why don't you use a mild steel strip? Then there is no problem at all.
