I AM LOOKING FOR A WELDING INFORMATION ON WRITTING A PROCEDURE FOR WELDING DUCTILE IRON PIPE WITH SMAW PROCESS.
THE ENGR. SAID, THE PROCEDURE AND WELDER QUALICATION NEEDS TO BE WRITTEN TO AWS D1.1-2 WELDING CODE.

My first inclination would be that D1.1 is inappropriate for the application with the asumption that the ductile iron pipe is used to transport liquid, i.e., water, under pressure.

D1.1 is not appropriate for pressure retaining purposes. Refer to clause 1.2(3).

I believe it should state that the welding procedures and welders shall be qualified to a quality assurance program as outlined in AWS D11.2.

Either way, you have some work to do by understanding how to weld ductile iron. Go to this web site below and review welding of ductile iron.


Second, get a copy of AWS D11.2 and review it.
 
That makes more sense than D1.1. Good catch metemgr!
