we had a wall thikness loss due to corrosion on an isolation joint at 6in oil line (6in 600lb,astm A-106 grade-B pipe is used), we need to replace the faild isolating joint and we do not have the same line mat, all we have is API5l x42 isolating jointS, is it possible to weld A-106 GR-B PIPE WITHE API 5L X-42 ISOLATION JOINT

It is possible to weld but is it permitted???????????????? You better find out.

A-106 B is most often quadruple certified to include A53 B seamless, API 5LB seamless and API 5LX42 seamless.

A 106 Gr.B specified for using special in high tempreture service , but API 5L for pipe line . if your system works in high temp. over 500 celeze. you can not use API 5L , if you use normal temp. it is permit to use ( same in mechanical & chemical specification)
