Welding Epoxy Lined Pipe to Protection Saddle

Can protection saddles (i.e. Anvil Fig 162) be welded to epoxy lined steel pipe? For some reason I can't find much information on this. I suppose I can try asking Tnemec.

Welding anything to an internally lined pipe is almost certainly going to burn, bubble or otherwise destroy the inner coating.

There's probably a good reason why you can't find any details... Bolting is your other option?

Yeah, Tnemec confirmed this. They mentioned that they do have a touch-up kit.

Is there a 'typical' bolted pipe covering protection saddle? Or would the saddle typically be welded to the pipe in the shop? I suppose the protection saddle may not need to be welded to the pipe, but the protection saddle is 'loose' between support and pipe.

You seem to be talking about an insulated pipe??

What are you protecting it from?

Bolted external clamps are common when used with solid insulation like PUF or foam glas.

A few more details or drawing or sketch of what you need would help.
