Welding ASTM A514 to 316

I'm interested in welding a grounding lug (stainless) to a foot plate in a structural weldment.

FEA has indicated that the region of the foot that I want to weld to is at a low stress under operating and upset conditions, so corrosion and lack of cracking are the issues.

If I were to indicate on the drawing:

Use 309-XX, E309TX-X, or ER309 filler material

does anyone forsee any problems?

We plan to paint the outside surface of the lug well above and beyond the welded region, leaving all material of questionable composition protected (well, as protected as painted surfaces ever are anyway).

Thanks in advance for your help

Suggestion;
1. Specify only E309 or ER309 (the E and ER refer to SMAW and GTAW process applications, respectively).

2. I would specify the weld size and type (fillet or partial penetration, etc).

That is it.

One additional note, the ER actually refers to a solid wire versus covered electrode for welding.
